Making the maze
Having a quarter of an acre of barren land and not wishing to have more grass cutting, ideas were floated around for an alternative use. Finally, it was decided to plant a maze, of all things! Research was then required including reading library books and exploring the world wide web for inspiration. Eventually, we based the design on the Yew maze at Hever Castle in Kent.
By May 1998 we started laying out the design and construction began. Many hours were taken up with hard landscaping and by the end of the summer the maze had been planted.

The maze measures 85' square, has 3,000' of wooden batten and 16 tons of gravel on the paths and is planted with 750 Cupressocyparis leylandii trees (we could not wait for Yew to grow!)
